Jesus quotes Ps 8:2 speaking to the chief priests and scribes:
"Yes, have you never read,
Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants
You have perfected praise"
This interaction with the chief priests & scribes came at the pinnacle of Jesus' ministry. He had just made His triumphal entry during which the people cried out "Hosanna in the highest" translated "Save Now"!
Jesus must have known His follower's true intentions for Him. They rallied around Jesus looking for victory in the political and material world. When Jesus did not set up His earthly kingdom the people were disenchanted even to the point of screaming "crucify Him!"
In contrast we read in Matt 21:9-17, after the Jesus' triumphal entry, that the children were crying out in the temple and proclaiming, "Hosanna to the Son of David!"
Jesus adores the little children. They didn't have an agenda for Him, they just loved Him and wanted to praise Him. They knew they needed a Savior and friend, and Jesus was the Man, the great "I AM"
I look forward to "perfecting praise" by just observing our twin babies. Their innocent cries for help, so desperate and pure, oh Lord bring me to that place with You.
